Later, agent Jim Phelps receives word that French embassy attache Alexander Golitsyn has stolen half of the list of agents in Eastern Europe. However, he needs his other half, who is in Prague, so Phelps is sent to prevent the traitor. A team of agents is sent to help him, which includes Ethan. With the support of other agents, Ethan infiltrates the ball, where Golitsyn should be. But the agents are ambushed, Jim orders the operation to be called off, but Gant decides to take a chance and take the disk with the list.
