Detective Dene Lawson (Samuel L. Jackson) of the Chicago police is informed about a serial killer who has emerged in Scotland. His modus operandi is identical to that of the killer who was never caught in Chicago. Nine years ago, he murdered five women, one of whom was the detective's girlfriend. Now Lawson is heading to Scotland, where he will collaborate with local detective Glen Boyd to find a possible connection between all the crimes. The investigation reaches a turning point when Walker (Vincent Cassel), Lawson's former partner, reappears. He has new evidence that will change the course of the investigation.
